Been working on permission for this place for some time, and finally got it! Going to strike while the "iron is hot" and start digging there tomorrow. We have already probed out two privys, but am sure we will find more as the permission extends across a few properties including the sight for an old drug store, an office building, a saloon, and the original postoffice for the town!

The ground has been cleared already, and I found whole bottles and fragments in the debris pile! The door to no where on the second floor helped me locate the first privey, sure do like the stained glass around the window pane! I'll post pics of the dig after we get done with the first two holes, and possibly disclose the name of which town we are in......

Check out that old Pepsi sign in the upstairs window! Love the door to no where. Is this place slated for Demo? If so, you should scavenge some things up before hand!!!

Not up for demo, but has been moved about 10 yards off the original foundation and is for sale, seriously considering submitting an offer to buy... there is a pile out back from what was excavated under the old brick foundation, already found a few bottles sticking out of the pile! I'll see if I can get a decent close up of the Pepsi sign...... appears to be painted steel.... If the sign is whole, in tact, and restoreable it could be the best find on the dig!

Here is a view of what greated me in the rubble pile as I was probing. Nothing special, a vaseline type jar with a tooled/rolled lip, but if that is what's on the surface......

Thanks for the hopeful replies, and yeah.... hope I have not jinxed my self! Got to wait until after 5pm to get in there, the contractor is removing some more debris from the lot. Which means more ground will be accessable to probe! If all goes well there should be a few photos posted by morning..... if things go GREAT, may not get to posting pics until next week.....

Not really related to bottles.....but.....What a crappy siding job!!!  Did they side it before or after they moved it?

Tom,...I'd say that's the original wood siding. (I kind of like the way it looks)

Joe,

OK maybe it is original.  The lower left corner of the building in the first picture threw me off.  Awefully wavey, but it does look like single runs of the boards as opposed to regular siding.
