Hi everyone I am really enjoying looking around the forum at all the great finds. I just wanted to post some things I found in my grandmothers basement. Does anyone know what the approximate age on the crock and jug might be.

It's not often you find stuff like that in basements anymore, looks like 1890s to me. Good finds.

nice finds there you will get more info.if you show a few pic's. of the markings on the crock and if there are any on the jug . is there any liquid in the jug ? with that broken off plug in there it could be pretty rancid inside.

No liquid in the jug there are no marking on the jug that i can find not even on the bottom. The only marking on the crock is the blue indian seen in the pic. Thanks for the replies.

That crock should hold some interest for collectors of indian items and crocks. That's just awesome. Research that well before you sell it. Personally I'd keep it. I think its great. Swiz

I would think there must be a company who used the blue Indian logo and that may yield some results. There must have been a cover.I would look around for it and put it back together if you find it broken.

Jugs without a company name debossed on them or peoples names and/or dates scratched on them are tough to research.I found one similar in make to yours, only it has a 'hutch' kind of lip on it.I can`t tell how big yours is.Mine is about a quart although I can get 36 oz.in it and a quart is 32 oz.The closest I came was some Vermont scratch jugs that were dated 1870`s when I Googled "little brown jug".Without anything on it to go by,I guess the age and origin will always be a mystery to me.

I hope you don`t mind that I post a pic. for comparison.Good luck. They are both very nice pieces!

No Wangan its fine for you to post that pic. The jug I have is about a gallon I would guess. I also just notice I spelled Carbide wrong. Glad you guys enjoyed the pics I thought they were some great items also.
