New to the Baltimore Steamer Soda collection - 8/24/2010 12:21:49 PM    waskey   Posts: 1415 Joined: 12/6/2008 From: ellicott city,md Status: offline As most of you know, im a big collector of the steamer soda bottles from Baltimore. There are over 100 different ones and I only have around 20 so far. I added some nice new ones off ebay lately including some rare ones. -Here is a nice clear colored Crown Bottling Works steamer listed as rare in the Baltimore bottle book. The reason its rare is because C. Edward May Prop'r is not in a small rectangular plate on the heel, instead its just embossed on the bottle rather than being in the small plate. This one is also listed as rare since the bottle is a private mold bottle rather than having plates. This bottle was a great pick up. Ive been searching for both of these rare Crown Bottling Works steamers and both versions pop up on ebay at the same time ironically. Heres a pick. Its a light green color. There are 3 different ones listed; one being common and the other 2 being rare. The bottle has a large lip chip and the seller didn't describe it having any damage. I was very dissapointed when I opened the box and saw it. I contacted the seller and what I told him that he never said the bottle was damaged. He responded by saying " I never said it wasn't damaged either". What an ***hole... He told me if I wanted a refund I would have to pay to ship the bottle back. The bottle only cost me $1 anyway so I said forget it and ill keep this damaged one until I can get a mint one.
