I receive a call from a guy that says he's got a lot of old bottles that he needs hauled off.  They were his dads, whom passed away about 10 yrs ago, and he needs to get the place ready to sell.  He says he didn't know what was out in the sheds but I could come look.

I go over on my lunch break and we start digging out boxes.  Tons of junk everywhere and mixed in with the sodas were vinegar bottles, whiskey, clorox, fruit jars, etc... basically anything glass.  They were in a lean-to shed, so there were rat nests everywhere, along with the usual spiders, lizards, roaches, etc. and the boxes were falling apart as were we moving out the boxes.

I didn't see anything too old, mostly bottles from the 60s and 70s.  I told him I wanted all the sodas so we started loading.  Next thing I know, my truck is getting low to the ground.  We get it all loaded and I try to pay him but he declined.  He just wanted someone to have his dad's old bottles instead of taking them to the dump.  I get home and unload but wasn't able to go through them all before dark.  Appears to be roughly 1000 bottles.

So far, every other one is Mobile though!  I've seen the following brands from Mobile - 3 styles of Barq's, 2 styles of Fosko, Dr Pepper, Coke, Kist, RC, Sun Crest, Mr Cola, Grapico, 7up, Wright Root Beer, Nehi, and Orangico.  Many have faded labels, but I don't mind.  I saved them from the dump.

Here's a few pics.

Here I am getting home.  I looked like sanford and son driving home.  One guy at a traffic light was pointing at the bottles and giving me a thumbs up.  For a lot of people, I guess they haven't seen these bottles in years and brings back fond memories..

There's a blob top beer there next to the old pickle jar.. a few medicines and milk bottles were mixed in... oh, and a flask!

There were a couple of boxes of embossed hobbleskirts... but didn't see any xmas or thanksgiving cokes..

You can see old rat funk in this box.. where there was a nest..

Check out the old oyster jars, from Bayou La Batre and Dauphin Island!

Oh, and the Devil Shake has been the jewel so far.  Darn roaches were in the box this one came out of, so the label is damaged but I've never seen a throwaway Devil Shake with paper label.  I have Devil Shake cans and ACL bottles.  As ya'll know, Devil Shakes go for big $$$.  So, this is a nice one to have even though it's a bit damaged.

A few nice ones I came across before dark.  I didn't have that particular Fosko... next is the Barqs 7 oz ACL from Russ Beverage in Mobile.  Robert informed me that Russ is the only one that used this particular  bottle.  The 2 Dr Peppers are Mobile and the Fosko isicle  bottle is always nice to find..

The back of one of the 16oz Barq's..

Hey Jerry, who did you raid man.   Looks like a great variety of bottles with some great bottles in there too. Got to love the local oyster jars. Any of the milks embossed?

you should buy an acre of property and have a few friends go around and bury all the bottles. then next year you will have your own personal dump you can dig in or charge people to dig in. bury a few coins and you can also charge those with metal detectors.

My daughter says I have too many bottles around the house and they need to go. She told me to bury them in the back yard, and when I win the lottery and have a big house, I am allowed to dig my bottles back up again, because I will have room for them.
