Hello everyone,

Well I am new to collecting and to this forum. I found some old bottles at the flea Market this past weekend and one just kinda stuck out at me. I have done some Investigating (thats the fun part for me) and I think it is a GII-54.

The Lettering is hard to read, basically the whole embossing doesnt really stand out sharp. The bottom is flat with some tears in the glass, is this a pontil scare?

Could someone please tell me if I am right on this one and please tell me it value.

Thanks again,

Jeff

hi jeff what you have there is a repoduction flask made by the clevenger bros from new jersey. the flask says for our country and is a repo of a flask made in hammonton nj by the coffin & hay glass house in 1830 or so. it is a great bottle i have five and all look really real. it is hard sometimes to tell real from repo as most of these repo flask were well made. one thing to look for is the neck. on the real deal the neck will be short under 2 inches.on the repo they are almost always longer ,say two to three inches.also the embossing is always very light on the clevenger bottles and is hard to read. the real flask will have a open pontil and the glass will be some what thin and not very heavy. it is "very rare" to see a color flask like this one from the coffin & hay glass house,so if the flask is say blue, green amber it would most likly be a clevenger bottle. as far as a price, $10.00 is about right but some go higher on ebay but not by much say $15.00 at the most. hope this helped, matt

around $10.00 or so. as far as age some will say 1970 ,but i feel these were made much earlyer. sometime around 1940 or maybe 1938 but hard to put an age to these . i'm sure someone on here can add more. anyway nice bottle if you want to sell it let me know as i live very close to where it was made and have collected these over the years ,thanks ,matt

Thanks again for all your help Matt, you have been a great help.

I have another odd bottle,  it has a round bottom. It has no markings that I can see and I cant seem to find info on it. Any clues for me on this one?

Jeff

jeff from the last pic it looks like the bottle has an applied top. could be from around 1870 - 1890 or so. like i said common bottle but sure is nice to display it anyway. if you do not alrealy have it the bottle bug will "infect" you real soonhard to come back from it!good hunting ,matt

Thanks matt, by the way I just measured the neck on the flask and it is 1 1/2 in. Does that mean anything? I know you were talking about orig. being shorter than 2 in. .
