Howdy Folks,

No these are not bottles but rather appear to be coffee or tea cups, hand-blown in a wonderful deep amethyst, with pronounced open pontils. I don't really think they are that old but....I just don't know for sure. I picked them up at as local thrift store for $2 each simply because I loved the look.

Have a peek at the pics and if anyone has any input, please....speak and be heard! Thanks!

Brian

I'd pay $2 for those all day. They're beautiful.

Exactly_vague,

there were 3 of them but they were so grimy I opted for just a pair but once I got them home and washed up they just radiated warmth. I wish now I had taken all 3! The pictures don't do them justice really - they are, as you say, beautiful.

Very similar to these: http://retroartglass.com/store/item/38mny/Glass_Archives/Handblown_Art_Deco_emerald_glass_mug_set_of_6.html (doh! wrong link at first, sorry) But yours are much more crude on the base. I'm more curious to know about yours. Worth way more than you paid with a beautiful pontil like that!

Gromit0299,

yes those look like what I've got but mine don't seem as uniform and the pontil definitely appears more crude. Interesting information too - if the set was $12.95 in 1944 that would about $250 today. I guess $2 each was a steal and I'd better go back for the 3rd one!

Beautiful objects made recently.  Certainly worthy of a full glass!
