I recently encounterd some apparenrly late 19th century bottle fragments in northern sudan, found on what seems likely to be a British Army temporary campsite ... one identifiable as made by Nuttall & Co - and was wondering whether they can be closely dated ?? .. they are likely to be related to either the Gordon relief expedition c.1885 or the reconquest campaign of c.1897. And what they might be would also be interesting .. soft drinks or beer for example? .. I am a beginner with such things so any guidance. here is a picture of one base with Nuttall & Co 1464, and another smaller bottle with a more indeterminate (to my eyes) mark .. any assistance welcome david
