If you're after bottles first of all you should look everywhere for broken glass, pottery or wire on or stivking out of the surface. Old farm Tips are usually in a 500 metre radius of the house. So get looking for glass and in you find some bring out the old Prod to make sure it is a tip.

I can see this making a good setting for slasher movie no? Kinda spooky especially with the grave yard. But I would say you hit the jackpot! If it were me I would go out and get myself a probe and try to find that privy. Can you say pontil??

Look for small depressions within 100ft of the back of the house for some privys. The grass may be a little healthier and greener than the surounding area even in the winter.

For the dumps look for any ditch, washout, gully, or ravine. Also check out the edges of any swampy mud holes and the back side of fences and corner of fields.

The dumps will be down wind of the house so if you cand find out what the prevailing winds are it will help you locate them.

Hi

Well I can tell you one place NOT to dig..otherwise you may end up in your very own Steven King movie....!!

Seriously though, this looks a great site. I 'd agree with the other posters, probe methodically until you find the privies, there will probably be quite a few of them...

Do post photos of what you find! good lucK!

I'd check in the house, in the cellar, under the porch too... Outbuildings, etc...

Wow, great old house. Ron's right about checking the house, but you should get permission if you can.

If you've got an extra 600 grand or so you should buy the place and restore it, a house like that is the untimate antique. Whole lotta work though...

I too wondered what is happening to the house? Always said if I had more money and time I would go around saving old houses.

Look for banks, stone walls and stone piles. If you find a stone pile then they may be under the stone pile. Usually in back of the house or across the road. In a ditch, just remember how they thought back then. Out of sight out of mind. Are you close to a creek or a river or a swampy spot? Are there any old cars out back in the woods. You're probably not going to find a dump on flat land. Some people would put there trash out bak of the cemetary as well. But I do have to agree with these guys. Get out that probe, find a helper and dig some privy's. There should be a few there. Just my 2 cents worth, hope this helps. Jason

I would agree with Ron (Bearswede) check within for any inside privy but off the main house first. Then start your search off house from pic 3. I mean really would Miss Scarlet travel all that far to go to the privy?? As far as your pic's go ...wow if 12 oaks where BBQ'N tonight...I'd be there! Awesome sight! Imagine what you will find???With permission I hope?
Good luck & post pic's,
Vicky
