Yes this pot lid is certainly a common one in the U K where it is from but as you mentioned these items are rarely found in Germany. There are however quite a few different pot lids from Germany and probably many more to be found as I beleive there has not been lots of digging done there like in the US / UK and othere English speaking countries.
