While preparing for an auction , I found this bottle in a milk crate that has been buried in the back of the garage for who knows how long the other day , thought it was quite different from most of the Orange Crush I have seen over the years . Can anyone tell me if this this Crush bottle is a bit rare or if it is a common bottle in North Carolina ? Not concerned with value , the back of the bottle has a couple of pings and scratches on it .

I live in North Carolina and have never dug or seen one.  I sure will start looking hard this year.

Hello Warren , that bottle has probably been out there in that milk crate since the 70s tucked away in the corner of the garage . I have no recollection as to where I even came across it . As I had told you some time back , I have been a pack rat for years . Its hard to believe that in another week the garage will be more or less empty . I have not seen an empty floor in that garage for twenty years , I just kept throwing things in there from time to time . Not sure if I made a poor decision as to having this auction at this time or not with the economy as it is , but I guess I will know one way or another in another week or so . Still have a lot to do to get ready for it , and as of yesterday , I am unable to do much of anything .

I spent part of early yesterday evening  in the emergency room at my local Hospital . It appears that some dumb ass decided to try and remove some debris from around one of the pulleys on their mower deck without turning the blasted blades off after getting done mowing . Got caught up in the belt and it jerked my fingers in between the belt and pulley and did a spin around on a couple of my fingers . I never thought so much blood could pour out of a person as quick as it did me when that happened . Cut one finger to the bone I think, as well as broke it ,  and took a bad slice across another one . I think I got 12 or 14 stitches in the worst cut and 8 or 10 in the other . Could have been much worse I suppose , if the belt had not already been worn and ready to break , causing it to have a bit of play to begin with in it ,  it might have removed them altogether . Now here I am with a bunch to do and am unable to do anything . Can not believe I got that stupid . My youngest Son is supposed to come out and try to get down a lot of things over head in the work shop . If I can get that done , I will be in pretty good shape being I have a pretty good jump on all the rest of everything in the garage its self . We will see what tomorrow brings .

Thanks for the input John . Its a shame it has those two small pings and scratches on the back about middle ways of the back of the bottle , still displays nicely from the front though .

It is always funny years later though.

About 15 years ago, I tried pulling something out that was stuck in my (running, of course) vacuum cleaner.  I've never been so glad to be a nail biter as that day!  Pretty bruised up, but my nails would have been ripped off if I had any.  Even though we 'know better', sometimes it takes doing something stupid to really teach us.

Like the bottle!

Kate

Ow.  Feeling the pain from your vivid description!
Recently dumped a full pot of boiling water on my bare foot.
My verbal reaction was just like Warren's.
The Crush bottle is just great.  It has the "look"!
I hope most people know what I mean by that because I couldn't put it into words.  Cheers, Bob

Burns are one of the most painful things there is in my opinion . I am still going through milk crates that I have not looked in for a good number of years . Found another Orange Crush bottle , only from E-Town Kentucky , I am guessing that would possibly be short for Georgetown ?? If that is incorrect, someone set me right on that so I will know its correct location . Its embossed on the shoulder , ORANGE CRUSH BOTTLING WORKS both front and back , as well as being embossed on both sides with PURITY below the shoulder . Also embossed on the bottom - ORANGE CRUSH BOTTLING WORKS E-TOWN , KY. . Also has the Diamond-Owen-Illinois trade mark embossed on the bottom as well . Can anyone in the Ky. area tell me if this is a pretty common bottle ar not ?

I am guessing that the earlier Crush bottles were made differently from one city or state to the other , as was with the Pepsi Cola companies in different areas of the country in the early years , before they consolidated to the standard bottles for all cities..

Someone from Ky. may correct me, but as far as I know, E-town refers to Elizabethtown, Ky.

Both of these bottles are very good ones for a collection. You've done well to keep them.

Elizabethtown makes all the sense in the world to me Kathy ! > I have no idea at the moment where I came up with Georgetown . Getting ready for my auction Sat. I am gonna blow out a lot of boxes of sodas just to get them out of my way , will still have a bunch after the smoke clears still stashed in the building.......

Hey Louis, I saw an Orange Crush sign today that I would almost have killed for. Well, depending on who I had to kill I guess.

It was enameled and stood straight out from the wall, flanged I think they call it. It was a white with green trim triangle Crush label with the Crush orange sticking off the lower side of the triangle side with Crushie and "Drink Orange Crush"on the orange and was about 4ft wide X 3ft tall. It was the dadburn most beautiful sign I ever did see buddy and I didn't have my %*!&#$@^ camera with me.

I guess you can tell I was excited about it huh.

Yes ,,, you do seem to be just a tad over excited ! Sounds like a killer flange sign to me . I have never came across a Crush sign of any design in my area .
