Someone contacted me through my website and said they have an Orange Crush bottle with a patent date that says "July 28, 1920".  Normally the date would be "July 20, 1920", but he said his clearly said "28" and not "20".  Photo is attached, but it's pretty fuzzy.  I did a google search, and couldn't find anything about an OC bottle with the 28th as it's patent date.

Is this a mistake bottle?  Is it rare/valuable?

chosi ~

Interesting possibility ... but it would be a jillion times more interesting if we had a clear, crisp, focused picture of the embossing. Without that its difficult to comment. As for ever "hearing" about one with July 28 on it, I haven't, but others may have. Or it could be a 0 that just looks like an 8.

Here's a link to a good Orange Crush website. Maybe it has something that will shed some light on the subject.

P.S. ~

The first link I posted pertained primarily to the "amber" Orange Crush bottles. Be sure to check out this one at the bottom of the page for "clear" bottles like the one in question. I just scrolled through it real quick but didn't see a July "28" mentioned.

I'm sure it's a gob of glass in the mold that makes it look like an 8. An embossing error like that wouldn't have been let through, I think.

I'm waiting for the owner of the bottle to send me a better photo.  I'll post it when I get it.

Yeah I doubt it's really 28. I've never seen one, and a glob of glass in the middle makes more sense than anything.

Here's a clearer photo.
It looks like an 8 to me, rather than a blob of glass on a 0.
