whats the best way to clean a bottle. Ive been using water and soap to clean mine but it never gets everything off. Whats another good way to clean a bottle? Ive heard of the bucket method but I don't know how that really works????

Aric, Ive had luck with soaking them in bleach. I buy a couple of jugs of "clorox plus". It's a thick concentrated liquid. I pour the stuff into a large covered jug. In my case i use a pretzel jug I bought a BJ's. It's tall enough to get even a whisky bottle in there. Let your bott soak as long as it takes, Ive left or forgotten bottles in there for up to a month. I've been known to throw a handful of pool chlorine in the mix but you didn't hear that from me
Another trick is auto rubbing compound. I have a buddy that polishes bottles inside and out with the stuff and gets amazing results. Just a dab on a piece of an old towel and rub like hell. To get the inside he breaks off a section of a plastic coat hanger so it has a little hook, dabs the cloth in the compound and inserts it down the neck. Ive tried it with mixed results. I just dont have the patience to sit there and rub for hours (and it does take hours).
Remember though, some staining wont budge unless you have it tumbled. The minerials are just embedded in the glass.      Hope this helps,
Lobey.

So many ways to clean any thing. When i dig i soak mine in ma 5 gallon bucket with water, 2 cups of muratic acid and dawn dish soap, 2 days or longer,

Then if the etching is bad, see http://bottletumbling.com/bottleProblemsForTheWebsite.html
I tumble them, the acid in the ground over 100 years will eat the glass as you see in the pictures, i take this off by tumbling and then I will polish them in the tumbler I use a 3 step process, IOf you need any help i would be glad to help
