Botlefamily..

Ah hah... I've been to North Carolina! I was stationed there in the early 70's and then again in the mid 80's at Camp Geiger, Jacksonville, NC. I really did like that part of the states. Warm, friendly people... I hope it hasn't changed much.

Good luck with your family digging. I know that my two boys have enjoyed digging for bottles and now, they both want to dive and help me work and look for bottles!!! Have I created monsters? I don't think so. I'd rather have them looking for bottles and appreciating the craftsmanship, the lost "art" of bottle making than doing some of the things that other kids do... I would prefer to explain about the holes my boys dig while looking for "privy's" then explain why my kids smashed your windows or stole your car!!!

The world is so different than when I grew up...

Nice to have you aboard!

Wayne

Hi Kristian, You got a lot of years ahead of you to dig, dive, find, buy and build a nice collection. Way to go for starting early.

Think hard about any bottle you get rid of. We have all made the mistake of letting one go we should have kept.

Maybe I can send you a bottle from the southern US. How about a hutch or med. What do you collect.

Email if you want and let me know, but make sure it ok with your mom and dad.

Hey there Bottlefamily...

Hi Kristian...You're right, you must be one of the youngest bottle diggers on the forum!!!
I hope you enjoy a lifetime of this hobby, sharing the discoveries, the research, the history of a truly lost art. Share them with your family and friends. I'm sure you'll be helping to plan family outings, camping, overnight trips related to this crazy, exciting hobby.

Remember to always be careful, always have someone with youdig, clean, document ad display your finds...

Hey Warren... maybe there is hope for mankind

Wayne

Hey southern Maine diver -
I was at Camp Geiger ITS in the mid 80s (around 83-84) and the only thing around there that was warm and friendly were the ticks.

Hi tristian bottle -
You may want to edit or delete that address after a while. I have a feeling that members may swarm you with packages of antique bottles. That's a good thing though.

Hey Meech...

I didn't know you were a "jar head" ... I was stationed at Geiger twice!!! I was with 2nd Radio Battalion, way down in the back I EAS'd from there in August of 80, I also worked part time in Jacksonville as a bouncer and armed guard at some of the uh, shall we say, table top dance clubs!!! I worked for Armed Security Services!!

Anyway, I hear you loud and clear about the bugs, I remember falling asleep on a mound of red ants while out in the field once... I woke up too late and was covered with a couple hundred bites

I know this has nothing to do with bottle digging, diving or collecting, but I had a brief 4 1/2 hour telephone conversation with Warren last night/this morning and it brought back a lot of fond memories of my service... I should have stayed in!

Oh well... nice hearing from you,

Wayne
