FOUND THESE IN ONE WHOLE ON A SMALL LOT, OF COURSE AFTER DIGGING AT LEAST TEN OTHER NOT SO PROSPEROUS HOLES. I WAS EXCITED , USUALLY FIND ONE OR TWO IN A PIT.  THIS DIG WAS ABOUT A MONTH AGO.  WISH EVERY DIG WAS LIKE THIS ONE.  14 LOCAL PENSACOLA HUTCHES ALL DIFFERENT VARIATION OF THE SAME MANUFACTURER, SOME PERFECT CONDITION SOME WITH MINOR DAMAGE.  ALSO 5 STRAIGHT SIDE COKES.  THERE WAS ABOUT 7-10 BUSTED HUTCHES IN THE HOLE ALL WERE ONES I DIDN'T HAVE IN MY COLLECTION, OH WELL.

THE NEXT POST WILL SHOW THEM CLEANED UP..

HERE ARE THE HUTCHES ON THE SHELF, THE BLUEISH ONE IS MY FAVORITE WITH THE SLUG PLATE, ITS THE ONLY SLUG PLATE ONE THAT WAS DAMAGE FREE, THANK YOU WHO EVER GENTLY THREW IT IN THE HOLE A HUNDRED YEARS AGO, SWEET!!

THIS WAS A GOOD WITH PERMISSION DIG, SOME FOOL CAME ON THE SITE WHEN I WASN'T THERE AND PROBED HOLES ,THAT I HAD ALREADY DUG AND FILLED PROPERLY, AND REDUG THEM AND LEFT THE HOLE UNFILLED. THESE ARE THE DIGGERS THAT ARE DESTROYING OUR PASTTIME, MAKES ME SICK.

THE ONE ON THE RIGHT ALSO CAME FROM THIS LOT, ANOTHER HOLE WITH TWO DAMAGED HYGIEA HUTCHES, BUT THIS ONE WAS ALMOST PERFECT SOME CASE WEAR, ITS A PRETTY TEAL BLUE, THANKS TO THE BOTTLE GODS AGAIN.

I GREW UP DIGGING IN NEW ORLEANS, AND BOTTLES TYPICALLY DON'T COME OUT THE GROUND LOOKING SO PRETTY.  HERE IN PENSACOLA THE SAND PRESERVES THE GLASS BEAUTIFULLY, ALMOST LIKE THE DAY THEY WERE MADE, AND THE STOPPERS ARE USUALLY STILL INTACT WITH SOME RUST, I COULD GET USED TO THIS.  ALL 14 HUTCHES HAD STOPPERS STILL IN THEM, IN NEW ORLEANS I MIGHT HAVE FOUND ONE BLOBTOP WITH THE METAL CLOSURE ON IT ON ALL MY DIGS.  I STILL LOVE NEW ORLEANS MY HOME SWEET HOME, AND WISH I COULD GET A NICE DIG SPOT THERE, I WOULD TAKE THE TRIP.

Yes those are nice!

In the 70s I went to see my cousin in New Orleans. He took me to see a man [plummer I think...any way he crawed under houses and found lots of bottles.]The man had a box full of nothing but new Orlean hutches! He wanted a buck a piece and even back then that was a good price...I picked out all the different ones in nice condition.Back then I collected only patent meds. and traded them for meds.Ah it was a wonderful thing!!JAMIE

I always wondered why here you can dig a super clean hutch for example and in the same hole next to it dig another one and it would be stained , make up of the glass I guess .

Nice collection of huches from one site. I have several HYGIEA HUTCHES and Pensacola soda bottles. I put them with my Coca-Cola collection. As some say the hutch may have had Coke in it.

Do you know where these bottles originated from?
The design was first produced in Savannah and they named the design after the island just across from River St.  Hutchinson's Island.

Ok, Ok, but it makes a believable story, now doesn't it?

Sweet finds. I collect and love finding hutches. One of the advantages of digging is that you can get in a hole like that (or the one slick Rick found with all those cobalt squats) where you get bunches of the things. The best I have ever done on one tank of air was 7 hutches. I think I found 6 more on my next tank that day, so, it was a good day, but its got to be great fun to keep unearthing them one after another.

And BTW - keep the stoppers from the broken ones. First off, people want them and secondly, if they are in good shape they can be polished into sparkling accents for your collection. Check out this link on the forum to see what I mean . . .

Love a Loaded hole like that. I have family in New Orleans and was really itching to do some digging there on my last several visits. Sadly, I have never had the chance.

Those ss Coca Colas look like they could be good ones.

Fantastic haul of hutches! The most I've ever dug in a day was about 6.

I'd really really like to see the SS Cokes you found, and I'm sure others would too!

Nice fine Pensacola! I was stationed at Eglin in the '80s and loved every minute of it. Beautiful country just like Hawaii but it gets very cold out there. You should get back there... might be more in that area. Mahalo for Sharing!

THANKS ALL FOR LOOKING,   I WILL BE DOING SOME MORE DIGGING SOON AND I'LL POST ANY FINDS.  IN A SMALL LOT, I ENDED UP DIGGING ABOUT TWO HUNDRED BOTTLES, 17 PENSACOLA HUTCHES, 7-8 STRAIGHT SIDED COKES, MANY SLICKER WHISKEYS, SOME 1920'S LOCAL SODA BOTTLES. THINK MAYBE THERE WAS A LITTLE GENERAL STORE ON THAT LOT A HUNDRED YEARS AGO, BECAUSE USUALLY I DON'T FIND THAT MANY TRASH PITS ON ONE LOT.  HAD A BLAST, HOPE TO KEEP THE LUCK GOING...  GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO ARE GETTING IN DIGS BEFORE CHRISTMAS..

THANKS WAHIAWA DIGGER FOR THE LINKS, LOOKS LIKE FUN DIGGING IN HAWAII, THOSE HUTCHES LOOK AWESOME, MAY HAVE TO TRY AND FIND ONE TO TRADE OR BUY FOR MY COLLECTION, SINCE I WON'T BE DIGGING ONE OF THOSE ANY TIME SOON.
