This is a rare jar and as you can see has some issues.  When I was in 3rd grade, we moved to an OLD house in Oroville, California.  This was one of many jars that were hiding in the fruit cellar in a card board box.  My step dad kept it but I aquired his collection 3 years later.  This is pretty rare and the 1999 edition of "1000 Fruit Jars" by Bill Schroeder, listed the value at 500 dollars.  Of course not in this poor conditon.  The jar IS INTACT, never been glued, but has some serious cracks throughout.  More than 35 years have passed and they have not gotten worse, it is holding together on it's own accord.  I am not a jar collector and would like to find out if there is any interest in this jar.  It would have to be a local collector because I wouldn't want to take a chance shipping it.

Wilkie,
I am a California fruit jar collector and live in Sacramento.  If you jar was in mint shape it would probably bring around $300.  With the cracks you will probably not have any takers.  There is a bottle show in Auburn at the fairgrounds on Dec 6th.  You could bring it down and look at some other bottles.  I am going to be set up there.

I already have this jar.  If you find any other California fruit jars I am trying to add to my collection.  Looking for a AP Brayton jar and a Dodge Sweeny butter jar.  I also collect Sacramento items.

Jerry, thanks for your response, I didn't see it till today.  Yeah, I didn't expect anyone to get too excited about it.  The cracks are pretty serious.  I am willing to "give" it to anyone who was interested.  If I collected fruit jars then I would put it on display, cracks and all.

We dug one of those a few weeks ago that has the Victory Jar patents on the back. It's also quart with the same face embossing as yours, Tim. Unfortunately, it too is cracked. In fact, it had a piece broken out of the side that my buddy glued back in place. No other damage is evident.
