Hello all,
So my cousin came back from Chile for a couple weeks for some school stuff.  And was itching big time to do some digging.  Just as we get there, the skies open up and bam...lightning and rain.  But after the hole is dug out the rain stops.  Nature is cruel.  Eli had already found some common bottles, some good some bad when he was about to tear through the ash above the spot he was digging into.  I told him "I havent seen anything in the ash for a couple weeks so just tear through it with a shovel.  Honest...just as he is about to slice into the ash with the point of the shovel....he says  "Take a look at this."

GREAT BOTTLE! I have seen two sizes of them, though I can't say what size they are as I saw the two on a bottle show table long ago and of course did not measure them, did not look at the price as I was into patent meds. at the time, but for EMBOSSING THEY DON'T COME MUCH BETTER! GLAD FOR YOU AND YOUR BROTHER !

Too much embossing is like too much money or too much sex.

BEN...great find !!! I believe there's a couple of varaints of the Goldberg, something about the addresses being omitted, or differing , from one example. I had one a few years ago and got maybe $30 plus S&H on eBay...It's definitely an eye-catching and appealing bottle. It'll look great in a window .

30 bucks?  You gotta be kidding?  That's a beaut.  I'd trade you my entire assortment of "$30" White House vinegar cruets for that thing.  I've dug some nice whiskeys in my time but none would compare to that beast - a bottle collector couldn't have done a better job designing that mold.

E...I tend to agree.
I imagine being from a large town like NewYork there were many made and they're considered as "common."

Whiskeyman,

Yup, but I can always dream that they shipped a few crates of 'em down south...

I'm not knocking Virginia for digging bottles, but when I go north to places like Philly/NYC/Boston and see the many ultra-cool bottles that are considered to be common and sell for next to nothing, it does make me a bit envious.  That said, I do frequently dig northern bottles in the boonies of Va., Philly/Baltimore bottles soda/beers/whiskeys are often more common than locals.  Likely the export bottles I find are common up north - but I luv anything with a blob top/embossment and a little color.

Nice bottle!  The Goldberg's come in several embossing variations, and in 3 colors, clear, aqua and amber.  I looked at my examples, all are the same size, but, they could come in differant sizes, I just do not know at the moment.  Goldberg was a large NYC based liquor distiller/rectifier/distributer at the turn of the century.  Address's listed on the bottle are for the company's outlets and offices.
I see the Goldbergs bring 25 to 40 dollars a copy on eBay.
Just a note for everyone, there are quite a few of these paneled whiskies from NYC, I know of about 24 differant examples, some are as large as 64 oz (half gallon).  All are very striking embossed bottles.
