Please identify this bottle/jar! It is quite crude, has a ground lip, and is embossed with an eagle. The strange thing is, the opposite side of the eagle, is flat like it should lie down or fit into something. It is also very sun colored amethyst.

Puts me in the mind of a flower vase that sits against the wall . I found one of them years ago . I first thought of it as a vase that sat on the ledge of a grave stone, but then too , that would not work well in the winter months being it was made of glass . So I chalked mine up to being a flower vase , never was sure if that is what it is or not but that was the only thing I could come up with ..

Hello Luke,

I believe that THIS IS YOUR ITEM.

I don't know what it is. It looks as if it may have been produced on an early machine. What are the circumstances of you acquiring it? Back story, please.

I'm thinking it may be the globe portion of an early electric lamp of some kind. Federal style.

Have you considered becoming a supporter of the A-BN?

Good job!

Reminds me of Kurt Russell in "used cars."  LOL

I was thinking is was a vase as well. Maybe it's so sun burnt because it always had plants in it near a window?
