Hi all!

Hope you're all ready for a great New Year! I have to say going out of 2011 has been a great thing for me... A good friend of mine has had a bottle i've admired ever since I first seen it. A Lawrences Indian Pain Killer from St. Louis, Mo. It's believed to be the only example known of this bottle. We've researched it with no luck, and talking with several other pontiled med collectors, none of them have seen or heard of another. Theo does have a Dr. Lawrences bottle that we believe is the same person.

This guys got a nasty and wicked open pontil, crude textured glass and is just a great bottle that I am sure proud to own. The pontil has a big chunck of glass protruding off of it causing it not to even stand up straight! I was only able to get it in a trade because I had a few things that my friend was interested in, and we were able to make a deal. Anyhow I wanted to show it to you, and hope you enjoy the photos. It was getting a little dark out when I took them.

I figured i'd send a couple pics to Mike Smith as he collects Indian bottles with a nice website, and don't believe he is aware of this example.

All the best,
~Tim

I love it. That bottle could be a real money maker if it's scarce.

Thanks so much, I love this bottle!

Matt, it measures 5 1/2" tall by just under 2" wide and 1 1/4" deep.

Joe, I haven't had any luck, i'd sure love to know tho if anyone does.

I have it listed as W.B Lawrence, ST. Louis in Joseph K Baldwins book on Meds.

Daily Missouri Democrat

Outstanding bottle, Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jacob,

Thanks for the info! Could it be that the bottle in Baldwins book is this bottle, or the Lawrences Indian Pain Killer St. Louis Mo? Either way, we are thinking it's the same person.

that square looks like a bitters or sarsaparilla. Bit big for a pain killer.
Nice big Pittsburgh bottle. Is it smooth base?

Yeah it probably was Matt. I'm not sure if it's pontiled, that is Theo's bottle he sent me a pic of awhile back.

I don't have Baldwins book so I was wondering if the reference in it was possibly to that bottle instead of the one I have. These are the only two bottles known from Mr. Lawrence as far as I know. Two totally different examples, and from all I have been told they are the only ones that have been found.

How's the book coming Matt? Will it have photos in it as well? I know we are still working on ours, it sure is a hefty project, at least for a novice in that area such as myself.

What a bottle Tim! Never seen or heard of that one before, I'd love to find one though. If you ever part with it I'd be very interested.

I have finished editing most of the listings. I currently have a lot of photos but that may change.
I'm over 800 pages and I need to get it under 700 pages preferably 600. I may have to change a lot of photos to line drawings which are more compact. Its tough fitting it all in a normally bound book. I could surrender and go the CDROM route but I really want a paper book this time. I could take out all the hair bottles and that would help a lot but I hate to do it. What would a medicine book be without Barry's Tricopherous and Lyon's Kathiron? Decisions, decisions...
