Cornelius Weygandt when he passed away had his very large Stiegel Glassware collection dispersed at auction.
Some of his pieces have been reappearing as one of the many second owners has now passed and I have been fortunate
enough to add some of this glass to my collection. This piece is one of Henry Wilhelm Stiegels better known diamond design
salt cellars. The English salt cellars in the same time period were usually taller and had a finer ogee style stem and a deeper
bowl usually with fluting.

This piece is about perfect and is made of a very good batch of flint glass as it rings loudly when tapped. It is three and a
quarter inches tall, and is two and three quarter inches round in circumference at its widest point at the top of the bowl.
It has three distint areas ,the bowl, the pedastal and the foot. The bowl which is one piece but is two tiered is in the classic
Stiegel diamond design the same as seen on his pocket flasks. The middle tier is a 22 rib ogee design pedastal. The bottom is
the classical footed design of the American Colonial period seen on so many wine glasses of the same period. There is a
distinct light lavender pinkish color in the glass a Stiegel trade mark when looking for authenticity as the english glass at
the same time was much clearer almost like crystal.

My wife has claimed this one and really likes it a lot.
