So for a very long time I had wondered about this piece.  I was leaning toward salt shaker but was unsure.  Then I posted it on here and got some wild answers etc.  Started looking at it the other day and decided to do some research.  This is what  I found.

They are called IVT (Inverted Thumbprint Pattern).

Many were made by Hobbs.  I am looking for a match to this one.  The only one I had seen before was a pink one.  And they call the outside form honeycomb.  Just a neat little piece that I dug years ago and finally found out what it was.

From what info I can find they were c1890's.  I just wish I could get a few more of em.  Some other color, shapes.

Well Ben,  I would like some more explanation.  Having worked around a lot of art forms - I couldn't see the thumb print source.  You may have to bring this one to NY with you.

I just posted a description of how bird swings occur.  I posted it on this FORMUM as information some of you will scratch your heads over.  I was just answering a mans question.  RED Matthews
