Hey Gang, My great-grandfather started as a cooper (barrel/vat-maker) in Denver, and eventually progressed to running a brewery in Southern Colorado (Del Norte) from 1898-1915 or so (closed due to Prohibition). In the early 1920s, they moved to San Francisco, and in one city directory (I think 1925) he was working as a cooper for the Independent Soda Company. I have never been able to find any information about this business, in SF business directories or online (or eBay), and have also turned up nothing in contacting some of the more well-known SF collectors. It's possible the business operated out of one of the Bay Area suburbs, but pretty unlikely he was driving real far to work, as he was in his 60s by this time. I know this is newer than most of the "interesting" stuff we dig, my interest is really only because of the family connection. Anyone ever find any 1920s-era stuff in the SF area from this company? Also, any ideas on where else I might research (although I'd like to find a related bottle, it would also be great to find a newspaper ad, letterhead, etc.)? Thanks, and happy fall digging to all! - Al
