Just thought I would share a picture of the finds I made Saturday. This was one of the best days I have had digging in awhile. It was one of those days where bottles just kept falling into my hands, and they were decent. I know I don't dig bottles that are very old compared to what most of you guys dig, and they aren't worth anything, but you all know how much I enjoy finding the ones I do. I am still on the same dump, and it tends to date around 1900-1915. If y'all like looking at peoples finds as much as I do then maybe you will enjoy these.

Some of the bottles you may spot out are, a Piso's Cure, Hicks' Capudine For Headaches, H.S. Hinds Portland Me., and a Diamond Ink.

Take care,

kaw

This is the biggest ink I have found and also the only one that has any real embossing on it. This bottle has diamonds going all the way around the top and bottom of the bottle with the word "INK" in them. On the bottom it is embossed "Diamond Ink, Co."

The lip is a screw top but it is applied and looks crude to me, any guess on the age, probably 1900-1915 right? Thanks again for looking,

kaw

Thanks for the kind words guys, I was having a blast Saturday. Now my only problem is my hole is getting to big and I can't stop digging, lol. Every now and then I dig a bottle that is a little older and it really gets me fired up, who says grown men can't play in the dirt? Maybe one day I will hit the "motherload" like you did Gunsmoke, until then I will just keep digging. Take care guys,

kaw

And I have always wanted to find a Caws ink, since "kaw" are my initials, lol.

I wish I could dig a privy, I have yet to find any where I live, but I admit I have not been very aggresive looking for them. I live three or four hours north of New Orleans and have never went on a digging trip down there, but I am sure it would be a blast. I have talked with forum member Relicsnstuff who digs in New Orleans and it sounds like there are some good bottles being dug down there, I am sure it can be a dangerous place to dig though with the crime and all. So I can't say I have dug down there, but I wish I had. Take care,

kaw

If you see any of the "Old Bottle" mags from the late 60s,early 70s , Louisiana ,particular-ly New Orleans sounded like a diggers paradise. Every month theyd have great reports of interesting finds- the privys or 'pools' in New Orleans sounded like it must have been a big 'party place' even 150 yrs ago. A lot of guys down there found alot of great stuff just crawling under the old houses. J.D

Hey Kaw, you sure make a nice presentation. I think we all could learn something from you about posting pics of our finds. lol I had to check your profile because i had my suspicions when I saw these, and yup, you son of a gun, you're an accomplished graphic designer! Real nice job on that diamond ink! I suspect there's some older stuff in the vacinity, keep it up.

Thanks for the kind words Maine Digger. I have been using the light table with good results and saw where you were doing the same. I wish I could get back out and find some more bottles, now that I am through with the babies room, the mosquitoes are so thick you can't even dig by the creek . Take care,

kaw

Our mosquitos haven't come out of hibernation yet, we get about 2 months of bug free digging in the spring before the leaves fill out. The nights are still cold but the days are warming up; my wife and I are going to hit a spot about 1/2 mile from here this week. My 'light table' is actually a circular ceiling ficture I mounted to a box!

Yeah, they're the smaller cousins of the black flys in Maine!
