I won this great lottle (I just typed that by accident, but from now on that's my new portmanteau of "little bottle"... ) on eBay recently. It's my first bottle from Glen Ridge, which is the town I live in! Doesn't get more local than that. Glen Ridge is a very small town; the population as of 2010 was 7,527. It's a very narrow town, only six blocks wide at its widest! Sometimes only two or three. It's got a total area of 1.3 square miles. There's only one "industrial" area in the town where I think the pharmacy could have been, as most of the town is houses with the typical trees and gas lamps in front, which we are famous for.

It's a real nice, small bottle. I found out that the Glen Ridge Pharmacy incorporated in 1911, and I can find state document references to them at least until 1918, so I don't think this bottle is extremely rare. I'm still very glad to have it, and it has no damage. My main passion is sodas and beers, but all local bottles are special to me.

Even better, the extremely generous eBay seller gave me an extra bottle in the box. It's a common medicine from his town, Bangor, Maine. It's got one of the coolest shapes I've ever seen. It looks like a miniature version of the collared ring lip hutch from Paterson that epackage has... I really like this one, even if it's common.

Happy to see it's in finally in your hands Connor, very cool....Congrat's buddy.....Jim

I wonder if it's the same building that the GR Pharmacy is in now, here is a cool little article from 1915 about a Mr. John Fagan who worked there....

I'm assuming this was the first owner....

Glen Ridge Pharmacy - Glen Ridge,

    Corp. Act.

    July 25, 1911

    Agent, William C. Appleton.

I'm assuming he was a later owner.....

Raymond F. Giegerich was born 19 Jan 1911 in Elizabeth, NJ, and died 27 Jun 1969 in Elizabeth, NJ. He married Mildred Winifred Stein on 23 Oct 1937 in Elizabeth, NJ, daughter of Frank Anthony and Mary Phillips.

    Notes for Raymond F. Giegerich:
He went to St. Michael's School and was in the same class with both Mildred and Frances Stein.
He then graduated Battin High School, Rutgers U. as a pharmacist and owned the Glen Ridge Pharmacy in Glen Ridge, NJ.

I guess it was in this one block run on Bloomfield ave....

"The block-long row of shops on Bloomfield Avenue opened in May 1911, one of the only pieces of commercial property in an otherwise strictly-residential town"

I wasn't a member of the site and couldn't get the rest of the article....sorry
