No liner and the lid looks repro. but I would have bitten on the jar because it looks original to me. No wonder I`d rather dig.

I hate to admit it , but I got burnt on one of those a number of years ago . I think I still have the piece of junk somewhere . That was twenty five bucks thrown to the wind ...........

Does anyone have Doug Leybournes email. The site doesn't have one.
I called this AM because I wanted the new book also but the link didn't work to buy it. I also wondered if he knew about these.
Are they in RB10?

I spoke to Doug Leybourne this morning. What a nice guy.
That's it really, he's familiar with the jars.

Why would anyone pay that kind of money for a heat stained jar? Am I missing something? Anyone?

not sure, I have seen a few at bottle shows. Didnt see anyone buying them. It seems like that stuff they use to make fake stained glass windows. The sun bleaches it clear after a while.

One of my original concerns was that people would buy these and pass them off as "I found these in my grandmothers attic". That's why I was suggesting to beware in the future.
It's not just these jars but anything posted as old. Bottles, furniture, pottery etc.. If they were everywhere before, they're getting more likely by the day.
This seller is upfront and that's great. It doesn't help much 10 years from now.

mason's were one of my 1st 'phases'.i changed directions and stashed them in an antique trunk .i haveno idea if they're real, but if someone were to happen upon them i'm sure the assumption would be made.i am drawn to the lightning version and ended with 20 or so zincs as 'combined shipping' or package lots.it's nice to be informed.i love your posts, now you have my head spinning whether i was 'duped'.i didn't pay 'antique' prices, but still,if they are repros it makes me wonder if they were aware of it or not.(you wanna buy some?) dave

I don't like to buy something that I can't examine and hardly ever use ebay except as a price guide. Even without the obviously new lid, the "ground"lip looks like someone ran some coarse sandpaper over a smooth lip.
