hi, i'm kind of new to the bottle digging thing. i've been scouring an old coal mining ghost town in Pennsylvania called Landrus. (about 1880 - 1915)

i've been finding some great bottles, some nice cobalt, amber, and amethyst.
however, today i came acrossed an interesting find. it is not whole, so its probably not worth anything, but i'm having a hard time finding any information about it.

When i first picked it up, it looked like part of an old mortar and pestal. It's white, and i believe it is glass, but the thickness and color of it almost looks like porcelain too. The bottom says "Resinol Chemical Co. Baltom. MD". It's appoximately 2 inches wide, and the bottom is very thick (at least half and inch).

I'd just like to know more info on this Resinol Chem company, or where i might be able to find more info. I only found one thing on the internet about it - apparently they made personal/beauty care products.

If you would like to see a picture, let me know, and i'll take one.

Welcome, Art . . .

A pic is always useful.

It is not surprising that your fragment has both glass and porcelain qualities. Porcelain is, after all, vitrified clay. That is, clay fired to such a temperature that components turn to glass.

I don't recognize the name of the company, but someone else here may.

Good hunting!
