I bought several round bottom bottles at a yard sale in Iowa just because they were different and looked very old. I am not a collector but might be now. Where can I find info about Round Bottom Bottles? They are aqua color and no markings or writing on them.
Thanks
Kathryn

Hi, Wyolady

Another name for Round Bottom Bottles is Maugham's Patent, they usually contained soda water and were quite thick glass. A lot of South Australian Aerated Waters manufacturers used them, and a rough date range is late 1840's to 1910 (in South Australia). The patent was from 1843.

I have included a photograph of one for you to compare. Many did not have embossing on at all.
