Does anyone know where the Royal Crown Bottling Company of East Tenn. was located? I have found bottles specifically from Johnson City and Knoxville around the same time period. The only one I haven't ruled out is Bristol.

I have two of these and mistakenly thought they were Johnson City bottles.

MORBIOUS...RC in Bristol was bottled by the Royal Crown Bottling Co of Bristol, VA. I also have a @ 1936 RC from Kingsport, Tenn. Believe Chattanooga is the best suspect for Royal Crown Bottling Co of East Tenn...

Chattanooga would have been my second guess. I know that there were a heck of a lot of them in this area, just wasn't sure where they came from. So Kingsport bottled RC. How many bottlers did they have over there anyway? I've only located two on the Sanborn maps, and both are just noted as "bottleing wks".

I own one each of the Barqs, the Southway, and the Mission bottling co. that you mentioned.

I have seen one of the Dough Boys, and of course that Cheer up and dough boy on your site. I never realized how many brands that Kingsport bottled, of course I have only been at this for just under a year. Looks like there is much more for me to add to my local collection.

BTW I was very impressed with that paper label Dr. Enuf you found. Great looking bottle.

The embossed Dough Boys date from the 20's, haven taken their name from the soldiers of WW I...they are a deco type bottle and quite attractive. The Pepsi-Cola dates a bit earlier and is a block letter variation...scarce too....believe it held about 6 - 7 ozs. The labeled Dr Enuf is one of less than a dozen I've seen...Never have owned one, although I could have on a few occasions. Not much info at all on Kingsport and/or it's bottlers. No one's taken the time to research its past. Ditto for Johnson City, Abingdon, Elizabethton, and other surrounding towns...as fas as bottles/bottlers anyway. Greeneville would probably surprise you with it's assorted bottlers , patent medicine manufacturers, and whiskey dealers...again - no real research has been done there either.

RE:Dr Enuf...Located a few of these last weekend. They're tin, about 4 1/2 inches in diameter and  date from the 50s'...They have a "sticky pad" on the back, so they were intended to be used as a small sign.

That's little Dr. Enuf sign is neat!

I recently received a full bottle of Dr. Enuf dated 1953 from Pittsburgh, PA. The cap reads Dr. Enuf Cola. Was Dr. Enuf a cola at one point?

In the beginning there were several Dr Enuf franchises awarded and I'd imagine that one in PA. tried a cola. I hadn't heard of nor seen any before you noted yours.Tri City Bev.Co. tried a  Dr Enuf cola back in the early 1990's, but it flopped and was pulled off the market. It was in one of those styrofoam wrapped "cooler" bottles with a plastic screw cap. Collectors down there are hunting for them now , but they're hard to find.

Actually I found evidence today that this might not be the case. I found a Nehi from Chattanooga, Tenn. It was a yellow/red label 10oz, if it had been in better condition I would have grabbed it; however, it had too much case wear.

MORBIOUS...meaning....??? It could be , Morristown...there was an East Tennessee Bottling Co. there circa 1900... But, Jonesborough & JCity both had the East Tennessee Medicine Co..., so that particular "name" doesn't  necessarily provide a distinct clue... OSIA _ "ottlebays in the oundgray" some of us Tennesseans still speak a little "Pig Latin" on occasion...
