Found the royal on the right in with 4 other jars I got this weekend, when I looked it up in red book 9 could not find a match. It has most of the attributes of # 2516 except it has the word “royal” in the crown (really hard to see as a weak embossing) and seems to me to be a small mouth rather than a regular mouth. Now the jar on the left has the attributes of a # 2519 except it does not have the patented info on the base and the mouth is what I would consider a regular size based on all the other jars I have. I filled each one up with exactly 1 quart and the smaller one (on the right) fills up to the rim and the other (on the left) has about an inch of space. I have added a bunch of photos so please chime in with any thoughts on these and if you have a red book 10 please let me know if the listings have changed. I have checked “the fruit jar works” along with several other references I have and could find nothing.

Looking in the rdbk #10, I think the jar on the right is listed as #2517... Ground lip and listed as reg mouth size, that said ,the jar on the left might be #2520- smooth lip widemouth, as # 2519's only has a quart listed in reg mouth /ground lip. Now if you look at the rdbk #10 you could get a little confused by the #2520 listing as the book says ROYAL (superimposed on the crown), yet the pic for #2520 shows a jar with ROYAL on the crown AND (below the crown) as listed for #2517 for example, now I'm confused (lol) ,anyway the jar on the left could have an unreported base, as far as regular mouth vs wide mouth the redbook lists a Atlas -style wide mouth lid (A.G. Smalley & Co. Inc. Boston, Mass) if You can find that marked lid it would solve the mouth size mystery. JB

Thanks JB, Yes 2520 is closer for the one on the left (should have used that number instead of 2519) but the base embossing is what has me confused. If the 2520 is a wide mouth than its the same size as almost all the other manufactures regular mouth as the lids all interchange. The lid on the one on the right is the same found on most lightning branded jars so that may be considered a regular by royal. A true wide mouth lid (like a ball widemouth or an eclipse) is way to big for the 2520 so that may be what royal considers a widemouth?. The hunt for info goes on!
Ps: also the variation in contents is really extreame from a canners perspective (one is to full and one is to empty)
