Hi Everybody,

I have used the UMI sanborn splash page for months, however today the residence/welcome will not allow me access. Anyone have a different log on to use?

Thanks,
Sam

aint gonna happen for youor the other people that had the password, cause a few large mouth idiots that dont even dig privies but had to get involved in the bs that they should have not have, thanks to those few, that screwed it up for the rest of us hardcore diggers, needless to say they do help , but nothing a probe and some persistance wont cure......

Well said med man. There just happens to be watchdog  members of this forum who don't support people having free access to this map site. So please folks, don't post any passwords or other information relevant to access to the site in question. With the totally outrageous prices they charge it's no wonder folks want free access. Besides that it's free at most libraries so what's the harm in getting it a home for non commercial use..

Why so bitter Max? you have no proof anyone, said anything, so why shoot your mouth off? The site closed it's back door because the freebie was being abused. How many maps did you download? 20? 30? The admin. (who bought and paid for the exclusive rights to the maps) n0ticed one hell of a lot of activity going through that password from god knows how many IP addresses and slammed the door. How would you feel if I showed up on your lawn each morning and read your paper and cut coupons before your dog brought it into you?
The password's dead, get over it, no one cares. Trot on down to the library and get yourself a card, it's free. Or register yourself for the map site and share your password with the rest of us. There are more than one way to get your hands on these maps and some are free so stop pointing fingers, cowboy up, and stop the complaining. OK? OK.

Bottlesam,

There are alternatives.  Contact your local library and see if they allow some sort of access.  Here in MD I can access online anywhere with a Pratt Library card but I can only look at MD maps.

Thanks for everyones feedback re:Sanborn Maps!!!
I found them useful to

1) Establishing old property lines.
2) Determine exactly when, additions to structures were built.
3) Find location of stables.
4) A easy reference for business locations.

In this part of the country they very rarely, had any privy locations on them.
Frequently people mis-identify "privy's" with

1) Sheds
2) Smokehouses
3) Chicken Coops
4) Etc.

Sure, sometimes they are on some maps. But, you will still miss half of them, going only by your "Treasure Map"!

Happy Hunting; the probe and your mind are the best "maps".

Too bad the "door" is temporarily shut. It will open again, sometime......PMA!

Best regards,
Bottlesam

Excuse me Ratcat but the proof is gone now that one of your  replies to this post has been deleted where you  admitted to blowing the whistle. I wasn't shooting off my mouth SIR and have no reason to grandstand any BS,  only stating the facts. Your obviously a very opinionated arm chair collector with little understanding as to what it takes to dig a bottle and work your azz off in doing so on a regular basis. Does anyone one else find your comments annoying or is it just me ?

Here, Here I find his comments annoying and generally rude rarely does he say anything nice to anyone. Also Every member of this forum that I know personally (which is quit a few) all share my opinion of him however most of them are to polite to post saying so. And honestly I wouldn't be surprised to hear that he emailed sanborn and told them about how the password and user id had been leaked to the public. He reminds me of one of those people that can’t stand someone getting something for free. Especially when he has no use of what ever is free. Or can’t get it for free himself. And gets his kicks watching others suffer. I’d watch our backs because next thing you know he mite be lobbying congress to make bottle digging illegal every ware.

Chris

You fellas hate the library huh? Reading is fudamental ya know. I didn't blow the whistle, if the whistle was indeed blown, and if I did that's just too bad right? Pound sand boys. That's the way the crapcake crumbles. And now that you two heros have shown me the light, I'm tickled to death the pass is gone.
Maxy boy don't talk to me about work. I do more before lunch time than you do all day. You want maps? Pay for them. Can't afford them? Too bad. Life's like that.
As for you Chrissy I couldn't care less what you and you girl friends think about me. Don't like me? Awwww, my life is consumed with thoughts of you seeing me in a good light. What will I do with all that free time now? And as far as library cards go Chris, get your self one. You seem to need one the most.

I LIKE LOBEY FOR HIS HONESTY AND HIS VAST KNOWLEDGE OF BOTTLES ETC. AND YOU WOULD KNOW THIS IF YOU EVER READ THE INFO HE GIVES> YEAH ME AND HIM HAVE HAD OUR TIMES ,BUT I RESPECT HIM AND DESPITE HIS ROUGH SEEMING WAY ,I HAVE FOUND WHEN THE CHIPS ARE ON THE LINE HE IS A VERY COMPASSINATE PERSON! COURSE HE DON'T NEED ME TO SPEAK FOR HIM AS HE DOES JUST FINE HIMSELF AND THAT IS ANOTHER THING I LIKE HIM FOR. HELL IN A STREET FIGHT I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE HIM ON MY SIDE! WE SHOULD BUILD EACH OTHER UP NOT KNOCK EACH OTHER DOWN! I DID NOT KNOW NOTHING BOUT FINDING THE MAPS FREE ONLINE TILL I READ IT HERE. I ALWAYS WENT TO THE LIBRARY,NOT THAT MUCH OF A HASSLE!

Lobey,

I enjoy how you always resort to name-calling. I already have Library cards for Baltimore County and for Pratt (Baltimore city), The free library for the city of Wilmington, and The Library of Congress. Plus access to the Sanborn UMI site through a local university. As for maps I have all I need.

But it still comes down to I personally don't Like you. And I know there are more then a few people on this forum that share my opinion. So why don't you go find some ware else to spew your diarrhea of the mouth because we are tired of hearing it.

I think you have forgotton what this forum is about. Its about commradory, friendship, and Antique Bottles. So why don't you stop riddiculing people and their opinions and just shut up for a change. Or like I said go someplace your kind is wanted.

Chris

P.S. here are some pictures for those on this forum that actually care about finding bottles and having good times with good friends.

....Okay folks,

Now I know I'm not a moderator here, but it would be nice to stop slinging mud at each other and get back in the pit and dig...

No use crying over spilt milk.

WOW that row of bricks just under the surface looks awfully... scary. I doubt even a hard hat would help that much!
