Hi Hunter2000, I've been digging one site this summer and came across many such pieces and have had great success using a wire brush on a drill. I place the drill in a vice so it won't move so a bench grinder with a wire brush wheel is the best but it works like a charm! The wire takes ALL the crap off without hurting the silver. They come so clean the only thing I now need to do is perhaps polish them. Just be sure to keep a good grip on your work piece - they can take off for the Great White North pretty damned quick! Gloves are a good idea but they also can catch easily on the wire - I ruined a couple that way. Now I go bear handed and use band-aids as needed! I suppose you could try reverse osmosis but it takes a lot longer. Brian
