Great find. I have several of the smaller sizes, the larger sizes appear to be much harder to find. I have only seen two sold and they both were in the $150-200 range.

Are you sure they were large-size (7 1/2") at 150-200? The 3 1/2" ones are the most common, and they can bring $100. There is also a middle-size 5", which are extremely rare in cobalt. The 7 1/2" amber is the rarest of the series, then the middle cobalt followed by the large cobalt. Any of those three are highly desirable.

Cap, Yes, I was freaking. Sunk the shovel in, pulled out a clump of dirt and it fell right out in front of me! Genno should have played the lottery that day , it was his lucky day for first pick. ~Jim

The Norwich in the large size cobalt is in the $1000.00 range. We dug 4 of them,3 broken and the 4th was a little distorted by the fires which they used to burn the dumps over periodically. One real good  reason for the rarity and value is that these Norwich are  extremely fragile and thin glass as I'm sure you've noted, just touch it the wrong way with the scratcher and you've good a broken Norwich and shards! That is a wonderful bottle to dig and I sure congratulate you guys on your find! Now I just have to dig the large size Lyon's powder!!!!!   Kev

I found a really nice group of poisions almost 20 years ago....and started selling them for the price listed in the Kuhn book.... Basically I learned a big lesson..... One of the top collectors wanted to buy them all...another offered 3 times as much.....I went back to to the first told her and she still wanted to buy them all.....Kuhn's book was new at the time and had his phone number in it....So I called him and asked him why people were willing to pay 3 times as much as the book valued them??? I ended up selling them for over six times the book listed them for.....In my experience you just can't rely on books for values.....Especially ones with the authors phone number in it....

Very true, Phil. I don't put much stock into any book prices. Some price guides are much better than others, but they are just that, a guide. Even a fairly accurate pricing guide can become outdated really fast.

I have the original 1973 price sheet that came with Roger Durflinger's poison bottle book (The best poison book out at the time). Man, how I would LOVE to buy some of those poisons at those prices . ~Jim
