Old or new? 7 inches high, 16 swirls, open pontil. I've seen repros of these but with solid pontils only. Any thoughts?

I can see pretty good wear on the bottom of the bottle, top right pic. I'm saying it is old and not a repo. I'd have to hold it and examine it closer though to be sure. If is a repo they done a damn good job at it. JMO as I'm not an expert on repos. Have a good one. Pettydigger

I don't think the flared lip is right for a midwestern flask, if I had to guess I'd say Mexican from the 1960s or 70s. I have one that's very similar (maybe exactly the same, I can't remember and it's in a box somewhere...) and has the stopper, and it has similar basewear. I'll try to find it and get a pic.

Yeah i had a feeling it was Mexican. just to shiney in my opinion. Always good to double check, before you plunk down your hard earned. She was asking a pretty large chunk o change for it to. Glad I didn't make one of my famous impulse buys, they usually turn out ok but not always. Ahh well maybe next time.
Thanks fellas, Rich.

Gee, that doesn't sound so good...

I did find the one I have though, and it's actually different, more of a fantasy bottle than an actual attempt at a repro. It has quite a bit of base wear, but that can happen fast. I think I paid a quarter for it at a yard sale:

Oh how I hate when I'm wrong, not the 1st time won't be the last I'm sure. SON OFA B***H!
I think it is a nice looking window bottle even if it is a repo. Good work Mexico

Sean .... I should have worded that differently I guess ! No offense towards you was meant .
I meant that " sorry to say " for lobey. And not for agreeing with you on your evaluation.....because it didn't look original to me either .

LOBEY...sorry, but it's a repo. I had one a bit darker some years ago and was told it was Mexican by the dealer I bought it from.
I believe the flat/flared lip is the more obvious giveaway.
It still has some value, say under $20...

was looking on Ebay the other day and there were about half a dozen of these listed...
some were described as rare.

Here's two of them...(hope these links don't break the board).
