What I did was find a way to access through a local university. My cousin goes to Louisiana Tech and is able to access the statewide LOUIS network which contains a subscription to the Louisiana Sanborn collection. That is how I got access to the Louisiana maps. Also, while I was searching on the internet I came across a username and password on a California university site which works to access the California maps. It was quite simple to gain access through the university, as long as you know someone who goes to college. I use his password and can browse them online from the comfort of my home. My local library was no help whatsoever, the lady at the information desk had no clue what I was talking about.
