Thanks to Tom's numerous and diverse connections, once again we find ourselves with a brief , but rich opportunity to dig some good bottles. In brief, he diverted a local construction contractors machine that was parked for the long weekend, worked out an arrangement for an operator buddy of his to use it, and opened up an area we've been itching to get into for years. (Way to go Tom!) We also have use of this setup over the long weekend. Any question where we'll be till Tuesday?...I met Tom tonight for an interesting start up dig. Here's some early finds...regretably one serious cryer in the group. A scarce semi local med. Here's some pics. We'll tell you some more details soon.

Tom gettin' started.

Mixed in with a few slick meds, pipes and some incredible colored shards, the next good find for me was a local blob..."Consolidated" with a linked chain trade mark....Alas, even though we know it was a Bradford Brewer,...they opted not to include our town name in the embossing...

I was pretty high on digging this guy most of the night, (till I got home and cleaned it) Really cool early med...Great embossing font, crude applied lip....ancient crack tracing the front panel!! Glad it was stained at least so I know that I didn't accidentally ding it somehow....Perhaps I'll dig another...It also solved a mystery because we had found a partial side panel a year ago and I posted it to Gunth, not knowing where it was from...

Man, that is a GREAT looking medicine bottle. I'll look forward to seeing if Matt has seen that one before. I'd be psyched to dig that one, I'd keep that one in my collection for sure. Good luck with the digging to come. I sold one of those early Moxies for $50 a couple of years ago. Some guy called me out of the blue, reading an old AB&G magazine ad. Told me he'd pay me fifty bucks for one, I said , well, ok. :)
Tomorrow, me and the family are driving out to western NH to visit relatives. I'm bringing along my scuba gear ;] wish me luck. thanks for the post

Hey Joe, Mr. Fred, Mayor Tom, and Lauren,

What a great mechanized hook up for a Labor Days labor! This has been a little fantasy of mine for quite some time. Recreational digging with machine, oh my. The damage I could do...

Looks like y'all are off to a good start. I wanna see more pictures, movies, on site barbecuing, and running commentary. Hope y'all are using period machinery. Are'ya gonna construct some broken concrete pyramids?

I'm staying tuned...

Well,...Fred and I met to try our luck at the hole this morning....We didn't exactly knock em' dead, but Fred was knocked pretty hard,...We had just finished discussing the stability of a wall we were digging along (and under), and due to certain miscomunications, we dug as though the excavator operator was stopping by to clean out the ever widening hole...That never happened today, so Fred and I dug around the overburden the best we could. The temps were in the 90's with high humidity, so after 2 or 3 hours of trying to throw the dirt up, we just dug where we could. (back under the slab)... Here's Fred after a surprise, instantaneous cave in. He didn't get hurt, just rang his bell abit, and reinforced our dig carefully motto...
