I ran accross this pint flask the other day at a antique shop. It had a really low price for this type flask and said as is. Well my brother was shocked when I looked it over and found a hairline crack and still made the purchase. This crack is only visable when bottle is tipped at a certain angle. I love this type flask and having the Stoddard N.H. embossing made me want it even more. Im not sure if I would ever purchase one in good condition because I tend to keep my bottle buys under $100.00 and am not ready and may never be ready to be a big spender when it comes to bottle collecting. My brother and I have gotten to the point in collecting where we don't buy damaged bottles. I broke the rules and this one will be displayed with my best.

I hope this crack doesn't take off on me. If it does my brother will never let me live it down.

I wonder if Hxtal would stabilize it?

I could live with that if it let me have one on the shelf!

Who cares what your brother thinks about it. Its sitting on your shelf, not his. I think you did great. I wouldn't hesitate to put a great looking flask like that on my shelf for less then a $100. You did great in my book. Swiz

OK, does it leak water if ya fill it up? If not, then she's worthy of the shelf! That's my rule: If it will still do the job as intended, it's still a good bottle. Heck, that crack has prolly been there since it was 2 weeks old!
Gorgeous. You'd be a dummy for NOT taking it home!

It holds water and doesn't leak. Seem like the cracks that like to enlarge themselves come from potstones and I don't see any here so thats a plus. Final price I paid was $85.50

Good buy !!
I would have been scairt to put water in it myself, as temp changes usually create cracks...

Other variants of this flask GII-82 have Granite Glass Co on the reverse.

Yes, I personally would fill a large glass with water and let it come up to room temp right beside the flask.

for what it's worth........ i'm with Gunther on this one.

i'd think there are several methods to stabilize that crack.

so many times we find flasks with scratches or cracks due to their use.
most times flasks were laid on the table and slid back and forth.
