I dug yesterday and came up empty. I know that sounds bad but it gave me time to hit a yard sale less than a mile from my house. I almost passed it up until I saw the bottles on a table. I turned around and went back. I knew the family having the sale well, having went to highschool with two of them. What I didn't know was that their father had dug and collected bottles from atleast 1975.
There was an assortment of sodas on the table and when I asked about other bottles I was informed the basement was full of jars and milk bottles. They invited me in to look and right away I was finding good local milks. They asked me to make an offer and I did. They said the only stipulation is that I take every last one including the insulators. Being the obsessive bottle nut I am I conceded to their demands. two truck loads later and back at the ranch, my brother, nephew, and dad proceeded to see what I had.
I don't have a count as of yet but there are dozens of sodas, dozens of beers, over a hundred fruit jars, a selection of insulators, and well over a hundred milks. Here are a few photos from last night. I'll be sure to list the better finds on the forum for anyone who may be interested in them.

Nice haul, Zane!  You should get something really nice out of that buy.....keep us posted!  Did those old wooden crates come with the deal? Those are cool.  By the way I tried to PM you a while back about the trade for the Foley's but your box was full.  I wonder if you wouldn't trade me the McClure house bottle???  Let me know.

Aye, congratulations on a great haul! I'd love to see what some of those milks look like... but more than anything... let's see photos of those insulators!

Thanks for the replies guys. Between selling bottles and working I haven't had time to post lately. I set up at the local flea market today and sold quite a bit. I also got a few nice ones for my druggist and whiskey collection, in trade for milks. I've just about doubled my money so far and have a few really rare ones left.
Here's a few photos of some sodas I got and one of a Wellsburg W.Va. Soda I got in a trade. I'll try to get a few more photos up when I can. One I am dying to show off is a Druggist from Wheeling W.Va. with a lion embossed on it. The other has an eagle perched on a mortar and pestle from East Liverpool, Ohio.
I am wondering if anyone can tell me anything about this early deco-type soda from Milwaukee. It's a "Graf's Zep" with Zepplins embossed on it and dated 1926 on the bottom.

Here they are

Thanks for the info on the Zep Bottle Mike.

Sorry Cap but my mom laid claim to the Zep Bottle already. Can you give me any idea as to value?

I'm going to try to get some more photos up asap of the other sodas. Hopefully some of you guys will want some even though they are from my area.

That was truly a great find .  I'm glad that you got your investment back along with some keepers for your collection.  My wife would have killed me with the first pickup load.  And she is correct in that I need to start thinning my collection down.  I keep looking at this post and wondering, Will my kids do the same to my collection?  It's good to know that this guys collection went to a collector rather than into the trash.  It's being at the right place at the right time.  Sometimes us collectors get lucky.  Anyway great haul.

Hey Zane, Great Jumbo Lid.  Were any Jumbo jars in the lot?  Would look great sitting on top of one of my 1 lb. Jumbo's  Don't know much about the insulators. My Son-in-law is going to Lineman's  School in Sept. in Tenn.  He's working for a rural utility company and is begining to collect some of the older insulators that are being replaced with ones made out of some type of composite material.  I believe that the white one is supposed to be a Thomas, but in the pic the "T" looks like an "I".  Could be a mold misprint.  Anyway there is some information on the web under "Thomas Porcelain Insulators".  Hope this helps.
