Well at least a Trademark Lightning w/Putnam 373 on the base. Qt, ground lip, original closure, no lid. I have Red Book no 10 and get confused the minute I open the cover. Not savvy on these jars, need to study more.
Any of you jar experts able to help me out?

Mark

I find the blue color I see a bit intresting.....how blue is the jar? Some times these pictures can be deceiving.....the bail is no problem finding......lid...if it is the blue I am thinking of.....it may be a different story.

After taking another look at that base and body....I venture to say it may be a light cornflower blue....see how the blue stands out one either side of lightning....I would like to see it in a different light. Pictures always show a lightend color...I have seen it a million time on eBay....very tough to catch the true color of jars......

I like this jar..

John, dygger, thanks for the replies. Sorry about the pics, it's getting dark here and I found this in the shed, almost forgot where I got it.
As for the color blue dygger, it looks to me to be real light blue, almost a greenish color. But I'm inside now with crappy light at my desk. I can take better shots tomorrow. Do you have any suggestions on how to capture the color better? And if it is the color you're referring to, whats the skinny?

Mark

Looks like a #1489. Common jar in aqua. If it's cornflower blue looks like a pretty expensive jar.

try picture against white background both from the front and up thru base. I vote aqua though if it has any greenish tinge to it. JMHO

That is a good idea to photograph it in front of a solid background....sometimes the elements can play tricks on ya.....

I have gotten jars from eBay before and been very surprised by the color difference between actual and photo.

It is alot tougher to catch a jars color....sometimes the photos just dont bring out what you are looking for....

And the winner is, Aqua, common 1489. I tokk it outside yesterday while the sun was good and bright and it is indeed aqua, very strong tint, but aqua non the less.
Thanks John, dygger, coreya, and sodabot for the inputs.

we were the "victims" of lighting affects on one of our purchases.  We thought we found a Cornflower KR-3 once...pretty rare.  Was listed as cobalt, but it sure didn't look like it.  We won, paid a pretty penny too...and it arrived.....cobalt.  The bottle was so heavily back-lit that it appeared a lot lighter than it actually is.  Another spare on the website for sale..snap!
