ANYONE WHO I HAVE ALREADY TALKED TO ABOUT THIS FLASK, PLEASE DO NOT GIVE AWAY THE ANSWER

ok that being said, i have all the information (value, rarity) but i thought it might be fun to test the forum to see how well we actually do on the hard ones, so here goes,

"PHILLIPS JACKSON & CO." "WHOLESALE LIQUORS" "NASHVILLE, TENN." in a slug plate, its a half pint, clear BIM shoo-fly flask

so, WHATS IT WORTH??? HOW RARE IS IT?

EDIT: forgot the pic...

Regionally it might have a decent value ie: $10-$15 Round here you might get a couple bucks, a piece of pie and a boot in the arss  I've seen similar bottles spit out of an ABM. now you find that bottle in amber and you've got something.

i find it hard to believe that the whole damn panel of judges consists of lobey...that being said, this IS a test, and in school what happens when you skip the tests? YOU FAIL! if you dont take the test you fail, you get a bad grade, so far lobey is doing better than anyone else and he didnt even put forth any effort in his response, but atleast he did respond...

THIS TEST IS FOR EVERYONE, NOT JUST LOBEY, SO POST YOUR OPINIONS, OR GET FLUNKED!

well as far as i can see it lacks any good color and really is not all that great looking so not much in my book .i'm sure you have something linked to it somehow but i just don't get it. not much to look at ,so it must be rare or at lease sought after by some sort of collector? so do i get a lease a d + for my effort?,matt

The value? What some one will pay for it plus what the next person will pay for it divided by 2.

Value is an elusive beast.  The best way to determine value is to get data on MANY sales. If that data isnt availible then you have to go by things such as apparent attractiveness of the peice, rarity, condition, likely collector base, etc, etc etc. The result of one sale of a rare item doesnt mean much because I often see the next one sell for a small fraction of that price.
That bottle has little apparent attractiveness so its value would mostly be based on local collectibility or rarity. Local bottles are hard to value and i dont know rarity of whiskeys so I wouldnt pay more than $20 for it if I saw it for sale.

a little more information on where it came from, and what I paid for it, i bought this particular flask at an antique mall in trussville alabama, atleast the largest in the state, if not the southeast... i got it for around $4, sometime last year... i too would have passed on it if it had been much more than that...

PS.
One thing i forgot to add concerning value is bottles from southern states tend to be rarer and more valueable than similar bottles from northern states.  The south never seemed to have the glass house output of the north...
Southern bottles for sale always get a second glance from me, western bottles really peak interest for obvious reasons.

you got a book on these tigue? your real close, i guess i can reveal the answer now... i had it appraised by the one and only Ralph Van Brocklin, and he said $350 (which he offered me and i turned it down also) he also said that a half pint was unknown, so i guess that makes this one 1 of a kind...at the very least, its 1 of a kind for now...

and you guys would have passed it up for $20...

you all get C's for effort, except Tigue who gets an A for actually putting in some effort, instead of just guessing...

Bottlenutboy you get a D- if you just give us a value, what about your research on the company? Why is it so rare? When was it made? Are there go-withs? What glass house blew it? Is there period advertising showing the product?
If you want an A you have to work for it
