RE: Tennessee Area - 7/19/2010 8:07:40 PM    madman Posts: 10084 Joined: 2/5/2005 Status: online preston, check with your local history center or main library  ask for the sanborn fire insurance maps, these maps will show where the privies are, as far as dumps go in tenn  i havent had much luck in knoxville, finding old dumps mostly 30s 40s but .. they are there just covered up real good! major contruction sites are a good place to look , along rivers , creeks, dumps can be in really wierd places since theres 100 years or more of build up on top of them...... _____________________________ always looking for, Toledo Ohio, Knoxville Tn. milks pharms and sodas, (in reply to peejrey) Post #: 2

It took 3 hours but there are several maps. All the way from 1880-1960 and all the maps in between. I had an up-close view of one from 1888 and saw lots of privies. When I'm older I'm goin diggin.
