Did some recon work today.  I've located where the shipping dock was(which is now under an above ground swimming pool) and I found a dump spot for old molds.

The molds are deteriorating from being buried for so long, plus this area floods alot.

I started this using a groundhog hole, and pulled piles of broken molds out to get these few.  I didn't have anything but a handrake and a probe, but I'm sure I'll pull some more whole ones out when I go back.  I could see one down about 3' in the hole, but couldn't get it out with all the broken ones on top.

I'm just scratching the edges for now because the entire site(about 2 blocks) has at least 6' of fill on top.

While I'm thinking about insulators, anyone know of a ceramic insulator with only LOGAN stamped on it?  I don't have a pic now, but can get one.

I usually ignore these little guys, but this one is different.  Not only did it fall out of a broken mold, but it is stamped C. I. Co.  I'd have to say that is Consumers Insulator Company, which is who bought the company after NL had some hard times.  Could this have been made at New Lex after the buyout, cause it looks to be brand new?  I can't find any info about Consumers products from NL.  It's also a slightly different design than I'm used to seeing.  Pic is a little blurry.

Thanks Cap, I've wondered where this place was for quite awhile.  I know that just about anything I pull out of there whole is huge bucks, but I guess that certain pieces are even worth something.  I'll definately be there for awhile.

multi parts. cllllaggulllllaaa.... (noise homer simpson makes when he drools) i love those! I dont know much about those large "mud as i call them" insulators but i sure do want 1. the embossing on that 1 leeds me to think it was made before, hhhhhhmmmm... I'll say 1910. It is a nice piece (or pieces) you got there, hopefully theres some WHOLE 1's there

Yeah, there's nothing coming out of there newer than 1912, 1914 at the very latest(and I don't think it was insulators,I think it was bowls and dishes)  1903 to about 1911 was good production, it all went downhill after that.  I'm not sure of the stamp, there's some crazy stamped pieces from here.  Some think they stamped the year of manufacture, others say they used wrong pat. dates, who knows.  I've got to find at least a shard stamped New Lexington, I wont quit till I do, but I'll probably just keep dreaming about finding a whole one.

Well, it's on private property, and the owners live there.  I was lucky getting them to let me have some dig time, and I have to return everything to its original condition before I leave.
