I picked this up at a flea market a Sunday or two ago. One look at the lip and the glass itself and there was no doubt what I had. This one may have been blown for Old Sturbridge Village (right down the road) in the 60's.
The guy wanted $5, it was late and I'm a pretty cheap prick and got him down to $2. There's one on ebay right now so I'm feeling pretty good about the buy. Pint JP Masonic EAGLE historical whiskey flask bottle  Mine is also etched on the bottom but mine is, OSV. Anyone know the history of these? What's the JP stand for, and what's with the etching?
Lobes.

Good morning Rich.  You are correct, this is one of the Old Sturbridge Village reproductions.  The bottle listed on eBay is probably also etched with OSV - the seller simply isn't seeing it clearly.  JP stand for Justus Perry, a wealthy Keene merchant who forclosed on the mortgage held by Schoolcraft (who had skedaddled out West) and became sole owner of the Glass Works in (I believe) 1817.

Ahhhh, thank you Jeff! I've been pretty tired lately and my mind never put together the etching as the monogram for the Village. A handsome bottle and well made for a reproduction. I seem to remember someone telling me they where blown in Europe some where. Thanks for kick starting the ole brainpan
Rich.

Yep, they are to my eye very well made and truly one of the better reproductions...
