Dates to the the peroid between 1820 and 1840.  My buddy bought it and moved it a mile to where it now sets.

It's one of maybe 15 of this type of construction that still remains in the state [S.C.]

There was a two room 'kitchen' placed 3 ft.' away from the main structure. It dated from around 1850 or so.  It was torn down so the lumber from it could be used as an addition to the back.

There had been an another addition made in the 1920-30s peroid. It was torn off and burned.

The interior wall covering boards are out being cleaned.

The floor.........er..........uh.............well to tell the truth I pulled it out about 10 years or so ago and used it in my bedroom and my upstairs flooring.

16" wide heart pine.....looks sweet. Did not plane it. It did take 153 hrs. start to finnish.

The floor boards were 1 1/2" thick.  After a 120 years of habitation, there was a path worn in the boards from the front door to the fireplace. It had worn some of the board down to 1/4"..........shim city.

Very nice indeed.  A house that is just screaming to be preserved.  I love log homes...one of my dreams that will never come true...

It is truly great that there are some of you that are able to save a piece of history such as this .

There was a guy here years ago that would go around buying up some of the once many old log cabins . He would take them down and move them to another piece of ground he owned and rebuild them back as taken down . He made a town with them , store , post office and other , and would display antiques pertaining to each structure . It was really neat they say . He has been gone for a good while now , do not know for sure if he ever got it all finished as I have never been there to see it  .

Would that be retired anesthesiologist Jerry Phelps? Lives a ways out from Louisville, Ky. on Taylorville Lake. Ungodly collection of log cabins, bottles, colored pontil medicines, and on and on. Everyone at the Louisville National a few years ago was invited out to his place. I'm glad I went. He's definitely living the dream.

I've got some pictures somewhere of the place, but I'll have to scan 'em if I can find 'em.

Dang, that is so super cool, many thanks for taking the pictures and providing an explanation of the process. Many people collect antiques, but collecting "ancient" houses? I wish I could do that, lol.

So what are the rough dimensions of the internal "floor" space? When it is conserved, will it be used as general storage or as a palette for the display of antiques?
