I received the following email which may be of interest to our tumbling experts.... quote:
Hi, I have been directed to this site by a tumbler I used to use but who is now out of the business. Would it be possible to post one message to the Cleaning & Repairing forum as follows: I am a collector & dealer of primarily Blenko glass from the 1950's, unfortunately Blenko glass frequently has staining issues. I have worked with several different tumblers over the past 10 years with mixed results and am looking for a new tumbler now as my last one (who did great work) is now out of the business. Typically I require 2-4 items a month cleaned. I am located in the North East and for shipping purposes would prefer a tumbler as close as possible, though quality of work is far more important. Blenko is soft glass and also many shapes are both very odd, difficult and large (as big as 35" tall and 12" diameter). Common problems I have found with tumbling is "rippling" or the "orange peel" effect where the tumbling leaves a texture to the glass, which is problematic. If anyone knows of a good tumbler or is up to the job themselves (especially if they have experience with Blenko) please contact me at info AT vmglasshouse.com Thank you, Damon Crain
