Another Ma's day yardsale buy was these two huge shells that I bought along with two other conks just slightly smaller than the one on the left for $5.  Church yard sale, make a donation.  I put some of my cone inks in for size comparison.  The weird looking one on the right I had never seen before and I think it is some kind of Melo Umbilicatus shell or a relative?

Hi Cobaltbot,
I love the shells and the inks, too!!
What does the other side of the shell on the right look like?
It looks like a giant olive shell.
Regards,

Thanks Lobey I thought all four of them had to be worth a $5 donation.  Marjorie, here's the inside of this huge shell.  I'm not sure what kind of Melo shell this is exactly as it turns out there are many types.  Looking at the inside spiral I could see how umbilicatus could be the name of one of them.  These are also called bailer shells as they proved very handy for bailing water out of boats.

At the ocean I stupidly feel for shells all the time with my feet.  I wouldn't want to stub my toe on this guy.  There are sixteen little spiralling horns!  The longest one is over an inch.  The ugly thing growing out of it is my arm!  I have vitaligo but it doesn't keep me out of the sun.
