While going through my grandmother's stuff, I came across this. It seems like a syringe of some sort. The plunger is dark green glass, the top of the container has a cork in it, and the part in the middle is wrapped with what appears to be cotton string. What baffles me is the small globe at the end. It does have a small hole on the end of the globe. I saw similar pics on the Internet for "ear syringes" and "vaginal syringes" but couldn't find anything with the small glass ball on the end. Any ideas to what it could have been used for? Any possible range of dates? Thanks!

I am not sure what kind of syringe that is there but, I do know it must be pretty old having that glass plunger in it. I dug up several in a turn of the century (last century) dump that all had metal plungers. One thing I am pretty confident about on your item is that someone probably wrapped that plunger with the thread because it was losing its suction power through wear. Nice piece. Welcome to the forum.

The only thing better than the broken glass and dirt going down the back of your pants is that bottle you're about to uncover.
