UWent on the hunt for local bottles in good ol' Bluefield, West (by god) Virginia. I actually found a few.

The good grape is a local from Pocahontas, VA that I got off of Ebay. The weird part is that I met the seller today, and bought more.

Thanks. I was amazed as well. This is after I washed them though they weren't all that bad to begin with. Just a bit of dust.

BTW...those "Circle A" bottles: they from the local Dr. Pepper Bottling Co ?
I have a clear one from Coeburn that is...was curious if the others were also.

Those Lonesome Pine Bev. have always been one of my fave local pix bottles.

That green one is a Big Boy Pale Dry. As for a Pale Dry what I have no idea; however, I would assume it is a ginger ale. I just have a thing for embossed green bottles.

Well the green one is from Coeburn, I also have a green embossed Dr. Pepper from there as well. The blue one is a bit of a puzzler. There was only one bottler I know of in Bluefield, VA and that was a Nehi/RC. It's entirely possible that it came from there somehow.

As for the seller, it's a little ole man with a hole in the road antique shop. What is it with these little ole people and old bottles anyway? LOL!

BTW where the heck have ya been Whiskeyman? I had given you up for dead. Anyway it's good to see ya back. Let me know when you are going digging again, I might just have to take you up on your offer. Hunting antique shops and fleamarkets is getting dull.

I like those Lonesome Pines as well; however, I am sad, I found a green one yesterday but the acl was almost completely worn off. I also found a Blue Ridge that was shaped like a normal soda bottle instead of the common ones you find, yet again the label was really rough. I will have to hunt these two down.

Saturday found me back in the backwoods of West Virginia searching for local bottles again. My main goal was to grab two bottles that I had passed on last time. Unfortunately the Christmas coke from Bluefield, WV was gone; however, I did grab the 3C Nectar bottle from Graham, VA. Not only did I find bottles but I found a couple of old botting companys as well.

An embossed Rock Cliff from Rock, WV
An Orange Crush Bottling Company bottle from Marion, VA
The aforementioned 3C Nector from Graham, VA
A G&L Bottling works bottle from Pocahontas, VA
A Spur bottle from Pocahontas, VA
A Royal Crown bottle from Johnson City, Tenn
and at both ends stand two Was-cott ginger ale bottles from Tazewell, VA

The Nehi bottling company of Bluefield, VA. Started up sometime in the late '20s and early '30s.

The Coca Cola bottling company of Bluefield, WV. Has to be at least started in the 1920's judging by the art deco design.
