Yesterday I updated the 'Items wanted and swaps available' page at diggersdiary: (http://www.diggersdiary.co.uk/Wanted_and_swaps.htm)

It now includes one US bottle that may be of interest to forum members, a honey amber USA Hosp Dept bottle.

A fraction over 9" tall, smooth base with embossed "SDS". The colour looks to me to be somewhere between #533 and #534 on page 14 of the May 2005 issue of ABGC (the photo on the website does not show the colour very well, and I'll be posting some better pictures in the next few days). Condition is excellent. It has had a light tumble, and retains some light surface scratches, but displays as just about mint.

It's got a good secure home in my collection (I've always had a thing for bottles, American or British, with a pre-World War 1 military connection, and the history of these bottles means it's one I really like) but it is available as a swap for a good British pontilled embossed medicine not already in my collection. There's a loooooong list of some of the bottles I'm looking for, on the same diggersdiary web page. That's not an exhaustive list, and there are many English meds not on that list that I'd consider.

But please, no 'London' mustard bottles!

Thanks.

Thanks for the positive comments. It is a good looking thing, and the history of it makes it a bit special so it's one I'll be hanging onto, unless an English pontil med I don't have comes along. One interesting / unusual shape, scarce, English flint glass or aqua pontil med (like a really good small Solomons or one of the rarer Dr Gilberts or Dr Brodums, for example) would generally be a straight swap for this, but the majority of coloured ones would be worth more, so I'd be happy to consider part exchange.

Please spread the word, if you know folks who might like this, especially east coast privy diggers who turn up English meds from time to time.

Thanks.

Jerry
