This is my first post. Any info on this bottle is greatly appreciated. The bottle is clear glass, with some bubbles. It has a hand finished square band lip which is 1-1/4" across. Overall dimensions are 6-3/4" high and 2-15/16" across. It has no other markings anywhere except for the Atlas-type figure holding up a giant sphere which I assume represents our planet. The design is 1-1/4" high and 5/8" wide. I found this bottle on a small private dump at a construction site in Corning, NY.

It's from  Ayn Rand Chemical Co. a division of Howard Roark Enterprises  originaly of Objectivisnski Russia. Mr. Roark came to the U.S. on the ill-fated S.S. Anthem in 1918. He setteled in Fountianhead N.Y. The co. sold out to John Galt  Inc. in 1957 and moved to Ohio where it died in 1982.

So, I see we have some jokesters here!

OsiaBoyce...I appreciate your input. I Googled both Ayn Rand and Howard Roark and found nothing about any chemical company. I'm confused. What did the bottle originally hold (other than the pint or so of dirt when I found it! lol)?

Should I have posted this in the post-1900 forum?

I have posted quite a few bottles in this forum and many do not get identified.
There are many knowledgeable people that post on this forum but its impossible to know every bottle.
Just a fact of life.
Posting is no guarantee of a response on an open forum.

So I'll assume froim what GuntherHess and glass man say, I may have a true rarity on my hands? The most unfortunate part is that there is a small chip in the top edge of the lip on the bottle. Still neat to me, though. Thanks all for your input.

Possible, but rarity doesnt always equate to value or desirability in old bottles.
