I can't find anything out about this frag online.  Does anyone recognize it?  Master ink?

The little star on the shoulder should be a dead give away, but I can't find it.  I couldn't find anymore pieces, as it was in a dump.

It would've been a beautiful bottle, nice and teal.

Lobey is probably right Josh. Here is one I have,  no embossing, probably a Carters though. I dug two, a smaller right next to the side of this one . It was not a pour spout but was embossed Carters as well as being the same color. No three piece mold though. I would say your is a bit older the spout is a bit cruder than mine, so most likely , it was three peice. I have seen another master in this color , but it was not a Carters, but for the likes of me at the moment I can not think of what it was. It was from Cincinnati , I do remember that.

The star is something I haven't seen on an ink. I think there's a pickle bottle made in San Francisco with that kind of star on the shoulder as a maker's mark, but that would be a stretch.

Uhmmm, you are right Brian,  I must have been experiencing a case of rectilitis when stated my opinion. I do not recall ever seeing a star on a Carters ink at all, but I would bet money this is a top off  of a master ink !

Yeah, I agree it has to be from a master ink.

Here is a glasshouse mark from the Star Glassworks of New Albany Indiana. It looks very similar. They were in business during the time period the ink looks to be from.It very well could be western however. It is odd to see a mark from any maker on the shoulder so who knows.

That looks like the same star.  I looked at that listing, but couldn't find any reference to it being used anywhere but on the base.  Man, do any masters make it?  Found this one in a thousand pieces.  Looked like the bottle had a brick dropped on it, as the whole thing was in bits under it.  It had some embossing, but I couldn't find enough big pieces to read it.  Another pipe

That pipe your holding...we found two this year and maybe 10 last year. The same exact style.

Anybody know where they were made? Ours were dug in Delaware and Baltimore. We dont really get them in Philadelphia.

I'm only guessing that they were made in WV.  I have a couple of that style, in different glaze colors.  I keep all the pipes, except dupes.

that cobalt master is from an underwood's ink... dont know much about the pipes...

I've seen a labeled example of your star ink too but for life of me these last couple days I have not been able to remember if it had more embossment or what the label said... sorry!

That Underwoods freaked me out.  I started hitting cobalt shards including the base first.  Then started seeing pieces of embossing.   I thought it was something good smashed in a million pieces.  Then I got to the top and realized what it was, whew!  So much for that cobalt whiskey.

Same dump, about 15' away, uphill.  CHEMIST is the only word I can think of that would fit, and notice the little inkwell with quill.  Hopefully someone will recognize it.

I know!

It's a Williamsons& Co Manufacturing Chemist- Ink Bottle. These bottles are frequently found in Md. There is a Williamson and Co. Man. Chemist listed in Frederick Md. that produced a variety of bottles embossed with Frederick Md. on them . I think it's the same Co. I dug one in the same color in Baltimore years ago. It has embossed inkwells books etc. on it. They come in aqua and teal, quart and pint size.

Gunther Hess probably has bottles from this company listed on his site, perhaps even this ink. It is in the ink book.

Mine came out of a 1880s dump around Baltimore. I'd date it 1870's because of the umbrella, the quill and the other ink(whatever it is) embossed on it. These were becoming obsolete  by the late 80's.

I ended up selling it for 150. five years ago. I miss having it but you can't collect everything.

I have a theory about Williamson's Co.! Not sure if anyone except Gunther wants to talk about the Md. Farhney's.
