Dug this yesterday, any ideas on what it was?  Everything else in the dump was 1930-1940.  No markings.  Also, any ideas on how to get the rust spots off?

Hey Josh, Muriatic acid will take the rust off. Sure is an odd looking piece. Must be modeled after a Mediterranean pot of some kind but I am no expert on the stuff.

Van Briggle?  I'm not hip.  It also looks to have had 3 small feet on the bottom, more like nubs, or the marks could have been from whatever held the piece while glazing or baking.  With the muriatic acid, brush or cloth?  Am I at risk at all of messing with the glaze/color?

Checked out the Van Briggle website, now I'm hip.  Possibility.

Hey Josh, just brush a little on the bottom to make sure it doesn't hurt the glaze. I have never had it hurt one yet. Use a 50/50 dilution with water. After that a soak in baking soda and water and if it has yellowing bleach and water.

I looked through several sites online and it looks like most Van Briggles are marked on the bottom.  This one has no markings at all.
